RCVS Day for vets and nurses
RCVS President Jacqui Molyneux

AGM, awards and presidential handover

Members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), as well as listed and registered veterinary nurses, are invited to attend the upcoming RCVS Day.

Held on Friday, July 5 at London's Royal College of Physicians, the day will include the RCVS Annual General Meeting (AGM) and an award presentation.

Furthermore, Dr Andy Stringer, director of programmes at the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA) will be guest speaking on improving the health and welfare of working animals worldwide.

The event will be the last official engagement for Jacqui Molyneux as RCVS President, who will be chairing the AGM, starting at 10am.

Once she has welcomed new members to both the RCVS Council and the Veterinary Nurses Council, she will hand over the post to the 2013/2014 president, Colonel Neil Smith.

RCVS Day is intended to recognise and celebrate the achievements of those within the veterinary profession, with honorary awards, fellowships and diplomas being presented.

Tickets are free and allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. To book, email Fiona Harcourt, or call 020 7202 0773.

BSAVA publishes Guide to Nutrition in Small Animal Practice

The BSAVA has added a small animal nutrition advice booklet to its series of BSAVA guides.

The BSAVA Guide to Nutrition in Small Animal Practice offers a resource for veterinary professionals to provide appropriate nutrition for animals. As well as maintaining the wellbeing of healthy pets, the guide explores how nutritional requirements change in times of illness and disease.

The guide is divided into five sections, which explore the importance of nutritional assessment; diet types; feeding at different life stages; feeding for specific situations; and feeding for specific diseases. Online resources are also in the BSAVA Library including client handouts and videos.

It is designed to be suitable for referencing, in-depth case planning and team training sessions.

The BSAVA Guide to Nutrition in Small Animal Practice can be purchased online from the BSAVA store.
