Raw pet food company issues further recalls
FSA said the products could carry a potential risk to humans as well as animals.

Nine batches recalled due to presence of Salmonella

Pet food company Raw Treat Pet Food Ltd is recalling nine batches of its food after the products were found to contain Salmonella.

The news came less than two weeks after the company recalled four batches due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Pet owners who have bought any of the affected products are advised not to use them, but to return them to the store from which they were bought for a full refund.

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the products could carry a potential risk to humans as well as animals, either directly through handling of pet food, or indirectly from feeding bowls, utensils or contact with the animal’s faeces.

When handling and serving raw food, FSA advises cleaning utensils and feeding bowls after use and washing hands thoroughly after handling. Raw food should be stored separately from other food (especially ready to eat food). Care should also be taken when defrosting to avoid cross contamination of foods and surfaces.

CVS Group hit by cyber attack

CVS Group, which owns more than 450 veterinary practices in the UK, has been hit by a cyber attack.

In a statement, the group said the incident involved unauthorised external access to a limited number of its IT systems. As soon as the attack was discovered, the group took its IT systems temporarily offline, causing 'considerable operational disruption'.

It has warned that the security steps taken and ongoing plans to move its operational systems and IT infrastructure to the Cloud are likely to have an ongoing impact over a number of weeks.

Due to the risk that personal information was accessed, CVS has informed the Information Commissioner's Office. The company is working with third party consultants to investigate the incident.
