PetSavers fundraising and awareness
A veterinary surgeon is planning to raise awareness and funds for PetSavers by sailing around the Isle of Wight and completing the 10K London Run.
David Mason and his colleague Duncan Ross, both from the Shrubbery Veterinary Centre in Northfleet, Kent, will take on the "Round the Island Race" in June.
It will be a second attempt for the crew and sailing yacht, as last year's 3.5 metre (12 foot) waves meant they had to turn round after just 10 miles.
With AT Veterinary Systems, Bayer, Virbac and Zoetis as their sponsors, the team hope their 45 nautical-mile circuit of the Isle of Wight will raise awareness of PetSavers.
A month later, Mr Mason and his daughter Kelly will join the PetSavers team to compete in the 10K London Run. Together they hope to raise £500.
PetSavers is a division of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA), which raises money to fund clinical research for companion animals.
Any donations it receives go directly towards research into the prevention and treatment of illness in pets.
