The event celebrates the achievements of new Fellows.
One Health, animals in sport and inherited conformational disorders are among the key highlights announced for RCVS Fellowship Day 2026.
Fellowship Day provides an opportunity for Fellows to meet, exchange views, and network with colleagues. However, the event is open to all veterinary surgeons to attend and can count towards annual RCVS CPD requirements.
During the event, epidemiology professor Sarah Cleaveland OBE will deliver a keynote speech entitled ‘One Health: pragmatic actions for better health.’ Professor Cleaveland has received the Leeuwenhoek Medal and Lecture for her pioneering work towards the eradication of rabies throughout the world.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to choose between two interactive debates discussing ‘Should we be using animals in sport and entertainment in the 21st century?’ or ‘Do or die? Treating inherited conformational disorders or tackling their causes?’.
The event will be hosted by Dr Niall Connell FRCVS, chair of FRCVS Fellowship Board, who described Fellowship Day as a “key highlight in the Fellowship calendar”, adding:
“Each year, it provides a valuable opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our new Fellows and recognise their significant contributions to the profession. It is also a chance to appreciate the breadth of expertise, experience and perspectives that make up our Fellowship as a whole.
“I look forward to welcoming Fellows, both current and new, and to taking part in meaningful and thought-provoking discussions. Alongside our debates in the morning, we’re delighted to have Professor Sarah Cleaveland join us to provide the keynote speech, which promises to be both informative and enlightening.”
