The University of Bristol is conducting a study to help optimise the vet-client relationship.
In collaboration with Langford Vets, The Power of Transparency: What Vets and Owners Really Think aims to discover how communication between vets and pet owners can be improved through transparency.
There are two surveys available to complete; one for vets and another for pet owners to discover how pet owners would prefer vets communicate with them.
Dr Latifa Khenissi, senior clinician in anaesthesia and analgesia, said: “We are living in a century defined by rapid and abundant communication, yet there is surprisingly no data on how veterinary professionals and pet owners actually communicate with one another.
“By sharing your views, you’ll be helping to build a more transparent, supportive and effective environment for pets, owners and veterinarians alike.”
The surveys will remain open for six months.

Two independent vets have launched a podcast to help owners strengthen their bond with pets. Dr Maggie Roberts and Dr Vanessa Howie, who have worked in both veterinary practice and major charities, are keen to use their experience to enable people to give pets a better life.
