Cx Congress 2020 details announced
The first day of the event will focus in detail on the topic of communication in difficult situations.

Two day event focuses on communication in practice

The Onswitch team has announced the schedule for its annual customer experience event, Cx Congress 2020, which will take place in June.

The event, which is now in its sixth year, will take place on the 12 and 13 June at the De Vere East Midlands Conference Centre.

On Friday delegates are invited to attend a full day of sessions taking a ‘deep dive’ into communication with both clients and colleagues in difficult situations. This day of evidence-based practical learning will be delivered by Professor Cindy Adams, co-author of Skills for Communicating in Veterinary Practice.

Professor Adams works at the University of Calgary’s Department of Veterinary Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences, teaching in all three years of the Clinical Communication Program/Professional Skills. She has developed evidence-based communication curricula, along with teaching, learning and evaluation methods for communication skills across the UK, North America and Australia.

Tailored to every member of the practice team, these four complementary sessions run by Professor Adams will focus on:

  • ‘the building blocks of communication’
  • ‘overcoming communication difficulties within teams’
  • ‘what we should be saying but aren’t’
  • ‘when we say things the owner doesn’t want to act on’.

Saturday will be split into four separate streams, offering a variety of content across key topics for delegates to choose from including:

  • front desk
  • consulting
  • leading
  • SQP/farm.

Practices urged to audit neutering data

News Story 1
RCVS Knowledge has called on vet practices to audit their post-operative neutering outcomes.

It follows the release of the 2024 NASAN benchmarking report, which collates data from neutering procedures performed on dogs, cats and rabbits.

The benchmarking report enables practices in the UK and Ireland to compare their post-operative outcomes to the national average. This includes the rate of patients lost to follow-up, which in 2024 increased to 23 per cent.

Anyone from the practice can submit the data using a free template. The deadline for next report is February 2026.

Visit the RCVS Knowledge website to complete an audit.

New guidance for antibiotic use in rabbits

New best practice guidance on the responsible use of antibiotics in rabbits has been published by the BSAVA in collaboration with the Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWA&F).

The guidance is free and has been produced to help veterinary practitioners select the most appropriate antibiotic for rabbits. It covers active substance, dose and route of administration all of which are crucial factors when treating rabbits owing to the risk of enterotoxaemia.

For more information and to access the guide, visit the BSAVALibrary.
