Veterinary Business and Management Congress draws closer
VPMA and SPVS combined Congress takes place in January

The combined Congress of the Veterinary Practice Management Association (VPMA) and the Society of Practising Veterinary Surgeons (SPVS) will take place from 24th - 26th January 2013 at Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire.

The UK's two major veterinary management congresses have merged to offer top quality practice management CPD for all members of the practice team, in the first 'Veterinary Business and Management Congress', seen as a logical step after two years of successful combined business and management CPD courses from both organisations.

SPVS and VPMA are hoping that owner vets will attend with their practice managers, head vets or head nurse, so the team can compare notes and work together to implement the best of what they have learnt.

The Congress will host 20 masterclass sessions, four lectures streams, world renowned speakers and over 30 hours of CPD. Topics covered will include practice health and finance, people performance management, personal development and practice strategy.

King Charles becomes patron of The Kennel Club

The Kennel Club has announced that King Charles has become its latest patron, continuing a long-standing royal tradition.

His patronage follows the support of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was patron from 1952, the year of her coronation, until her death in 2022.

The Kennel Club has received royal support since it began in 1873, when it received support from Prince Edward, then Prince of Wales. When he ascended to the throne in 1901, King Edward began a tradition of the head of state offering their patronage.

Tony Allcock, Kennel Club Chairman, said: "We are delighted and most honoured that His Majesty the King will continue the tradition of royal support for The Kennel Club and help us in our mission in making a positive difference for dogs and their owners."
