New web tool to help select puppy
The Dog Advisory Council has launched a new web tool to help prospective dog owners select the right breed of puppy for their lifestyle.
The guide provides basic information on the factors which need to be considered before purchasing a puppy, such as how to identify a legitimate breeder. Breed specific information is also given, as well as continual support for new puppy owners.
The Dog Advisory Council, chaired by vet Professor Sheila Crispin, aims to encourage and facilitate improvements in the welfare issues associated with dog breeding, by providing independent expert advice to governments and other stakeholders.

Two independent vets have launched a podcast to help owners strengthen their bond with pets. Dr Maggie Roberts and Dr Vanessa Howie, who have worked in both veterinary practice and major charities, are keen to use their experience to enable people to give pets a better life.
