International crowd at Greyhound Vet Conference
The Society of Greyhound Veterinarians, the specialist division of the BVA dedicated to the veterinary care and welfare of greyhounds, attracted an international crowd at their Annual Conference held in Manchester in May.
Veterinary surgeons from as far and wide as Dubai and Tasmania numbered among the attendees, as well as local greyhound trainers who all helped make the event so successful.
The principal theme of the conference was Evidence-Based Medicine and the treatment of injuries in race dogs. The opening speaker was referral veterinary orthopaedic surgeon Malcolm Ness, and other speakers included Mike Guilliard, Denis Beary and renowned Australian greyhound vet, John Kohnke.
