Richard Stephenson's Council notes published
Inside view of RCVS Council

Richard Stephenson, one of the recently re-elected members of the RCVS Council, has made his notes of the last Council meeting available for all in the veterinary profession to read.

A rare chance to see an inside view of the Council, Mr Stephenson's notes are thorough. All thoughts and opinions are his own and he states of his notes that: "as always, these represent my impression of the meeting and are not intended as an unbiased 'minute'."

Mr Stephenson has made a habit of publishing his notes throughout his time spent serving on RCVS Council, in an effort to make the matters discussed at Council more transparent.

The issues which arose at the last Council meeting, which took place on the 7th June 2012, include the appointment of Nick Stace as the new CEO and the new board which will be set up to manage College affairs; the freezing of retention fees; and reports from the various committees  - including pertinent matters raised in the area of discipline.

New form for online veterinary medicines retailers

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has produced a new online form for retailers wishing to sell veterinary medicines on the internet.

The form replace the previous Word version and is part of the VMD's ongoing commitment to digitise its processes. Anyone retailing prescription medicines online, including POM-V, POM-VPS and NFA-VPS categories, is lawfully required to register with the VMD before trading.

The change only applies to new applicants. Retailers already listed on the VMD's Register of Online Retailers or registered under the Accredited Internet Retailer Scheme (AIRS) do not need to do anything.
