Vote for VN council 2012
The deadline for voting for VN Council is fast approaching and, as of Monday, only 6% of veterinary nurses had voted. Votes need to be cast before 5pm on Friday 27th April 2012 and all veterinary nurses are urged to take part in the election process.
Three candidates are contesting for two seats this year, but compared to the fourteen candidates competing for six places on RCVS Council, the VN election seems to have attracted little interest. This is perhaps surprising in light of the recent calls to make the veterinary nursing profession more independent, and the causes of this disconnection between the VN department and the veterinary nursing profession remain unclear.
The three candidates standing for election are Kathy Kissick, Philippe Ramboaniana and Elizabeth Figg, whose manifestos are accessible here.

Two independent vets have launched a podcast to help owners strengthen their bond with pets. Dr Maggie Roberts and Dr Vanessa Howie, who have worked in both veterinary practice and major charities, are keen to use their experience to enable people to give pets a better life.
