SBV – more cases confirmed
The Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA) has confirmed that the Schmallenberg Virus (SBV) has been detected on more UK farms. The total known count now stands at 223, of which 20 were in cattle and 203 were in sheep. No cases have been detected in any other species in UK territory.
AHVLA has also announced that three of the cases came from areas where SBV had not previously been detected. One case has been detected in Bedfordshire and two more were detected in Jersey. No cases have been reported on any of the other Channel Islands.
