The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) has published an updated edition of its highly regarded Haematology Manual. The new second edition covers basic Haematology, but now also takes the effects of new diagnostic techniques, treatment strategies and laboratory equipment into account. A new chapter on the use of blood substitutes has also been included.

This second edition is intended to provide a useful source of practical information for undergraduate veterinary students, veterinary nurses, veterinary graduates studying small animal medicine, and veterinary surgeons in general practice. Background information is also available for those who wish to appreciate a more in-depth perspective on a particular topic.

The Manual is already available to purchase online, but BSAVA Members attending the upcoming Congress will be able to take advantage of a £5 discount by using the relevant member voucher in the Exhibition Vouchers Booklet. More information is available at the BSAVA Website.

New form for online veterinary medicines retailers

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has produced a new online form for retailers wishing to sell veterinary medicines on the internet.

The form replace the previous Word version and is part of the VMD's ongoing commitment to digitise its processes. Anyone retailing prescription medicines online, including POM-V, POM-VPS and NFA-VPS categories, is lawfully required to register with the VMD before trading.

The change only applies to new applicants. Retailers already listed on the VMD's Register of Online Retailers or registered under the Accredited Internet Retailer Scheme (AIRS) do not need to do anything.
