Lion Cubs Carry On the Circle of Life
ZSL London Zoo are celebrating the arrival of two critically endangered Asian lion cubs.
Born just in time for Halloweeen, the two cubs - nicknamed Pumpkin and Spook - are the second pair of children to parents Abi and the topically-named Lucifer.
Roughly 350 Asian lions remain in the wild and just 90 live in captivity. ZSL London Zoo is part of the European Breeding Programme for Asian lions and Zookeeper, Tony Cholerton, said: "We're thrilled about the arrival of Lucifer's cubs."
He added: "It's lovely to see that Abi is making such a good mother and we're expecting that Lucifer will be a roaring success as a second-time dad."
The youngsters are expected to make their first public appearance in their outside paddock in November - just in time for their first Christmas at ZSL London Zoo.
