Celebrating 50yrs of veterinary nursing

RCVS holds meeting to reflect on the past and future of veterinary nursing.

A seminar organised by RCVS, was recently held to coincide with the celebrations of veterinary nursing's 50th anniversary.

The aim of the seminar was to give an overview of the history of nursing, outlining the role of the RCVS VN Council and discussing various considerations that could shape the future of veterinary nursing.

There were many speakers at the event, who gave informative talks and engaged with the attendees. The highlights of the day included Sue Badger and a talk on her own personal reflections of the profession and the challenges ahead that the BVNA see facing the profession.

Another speaker, Christian Kummernes, who is a lecturer at Norwegian School of Veterinary Sciences, explained how veterinary nursing education works in Norway.

The day was attended by VNs, vets and veterinary lecturers and gave many people plenty of food for thought.
