'Vet Year' marked by World Conference
The world's largest conference on veterinary education will take place between 13th and 15th May 2011 in the presence of leading luminaries from the veterinary profession from all regions of the world.
The event will include roundtables on global veterinary education needs and strategies, the views of statutory bodies on veterinary education around the world. The conference is also being held as part of Vet Year 2011, to promote knowledge and understanding of the profession and to mark its 250th anniversary.
The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) will be in attendance at the conference promote the teaching of animal welfare, a concept which, to date, has not formed an intrinsic part of the curricula of a vet.

Two independent vets have launched a podcast to help owners strengthen their bond with pets. Dr Maggie Roberts and Dr Vanessa Howie, who have worked in both veterinary practice and major charities, are keen to use their experience to enable people to give pets a better life.
