No Need For Shearing
The Exlana breed was breed from a number of overseas breeds by Peter Baber, who said he wanted to reduce the cost of shearing.
He has quoted figures that suggest shearing one sheep costs between 90p and £1.30. Although last year farmers could only get about 60p per kilo of wool, now the price is about £1.15. With this rising price, leaders in the wool industry are highlighting the economic viability of wool production.

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is inviting applications from veterinary students to attend a one-week extramural studies (EMS) placement in July 2026.
