Vets and VNs have until 31 January to put themselves forward
The RCVS has announced that veterinary surgeons and nurses can now put themselves forward as candidates for the 2021 RCVS council and VN council 2021 elections.
Potential council members will have until 5pm on Sunday 31 January 2021 to nominate themselves for the elections, which take place in spring 2021.
Eligibility criteria including FAQs, guidance notes and a new 'informal job description' to help candidates better understand their role and responsibilities can be found on the dedicated RCVS Council election webpage and the dedicated VN Council election webpage respectively.
As a result of ongoing postal problems across the UK the RCVS Council has agreed that nominations can now be submitted electronically this year. This temporary change is currently awaiting final approval from the Privy Council.
Prospective candidates for RCVS Council can contact RCVS president Dr Mandisa Greene on president@rcvs.org.uk for a casual discussion on the role of a council member. While, prospective VN Council candidates can contact VN Council chair Matthew Rendle on vncchair@rcvs.org.uk.
RCVS Council will hold a meeting before the nomination period ends on Thursday 21 January 2021 and potential members for both councils are invited to attend as observers. For more information please contact Dawn Wiggins, RCVS Council secretary, on d.wiggins@rcvs.org.uk
