
Retiring dogs face a precarious future, charities warn
Around 9,000 racing greyhounds are retired in the UK each year, but only 5,300 find new homes through charities. For the remaining dogs, the future is precarious as owners and trainers look for alternative methods to dispose of retiring dogs.
As these concerns become evermore pressing, leading greyhound welfare charities have joined forces this week to call for a restriction on the breeding of greyhounds for racing.
