Wood Green to celebrate 90th birthday
Ali Bastian
The gala dinner will be hosted by Strictly star, Ali Bastian.

Strictly star Ali Bastian to front charity's celebration event

Wood Green Animal Charity is preparing to celebrate its 90th birthday and will be staging a glamorous gala dinner to mark the occasion.

The event, to be held at the organisation's Godmanchester centre in Cambridgeshire, will honour the charity's staff, volunteers and impressive legacy of animal welfare work.

With a 1920s theme, the evening will be hosted by Ali Bastian, a huge animal lover who is best known for acting roles on screen including Hollyoaks and for becoming a semi-finalist on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

Clive Byles, Wood Green's CEO, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have Ali as our host for the evening. This is a very special event for us, so to be supported by someone who is a successful star of stage and screen - and also a huge animal lover - is a real bonus to an evening line-up which promises to be spectacular."

The event will feature an exhibition of Wood Green memorabilia and photographs throughout the ages, transporting guests back to the 1920s and right up to Wood Green in 2014. There will also be a silent auction which will help raise vital funds to support the work which goes into helping around 5,000 animals every year.

Clive added: "We still have some seats available for the dinner and can promise a wonderful evening for anyone looking to join in our celebration.

"Every penny we raise on the night will make such a difference to what we are able to deliver for animals that are abandoned and in need."

The evening will begin with a champagne reception and includes a four-course dinner served with complimentary wine.

The event takes place on Thursday 13 November and tickets are priced at £65.00 per person. Dress code is black tie or something from the age to match the theme.
