CQ DipEVN available at Plumpton College

Plumpton College is now enrolling students for the CQ Diploma in Equine Veterinary Nursing (DipEVN) for academic year 2013/14.

Founded in 1926 and originally an agricultural college, Plumpton College provides a range of courses in animal care, including the Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (small animal), the Foundation Veterinary Nursing Degree and now the Diploma in Equine Veterinary Nursing.

The DipEVN is a Level 3 qualification specially designed to prepare and support those who wish to pursue a career as an equine veterinary nurse. Key units of study include supporting operating theatre practice, principles of equine neonatal care and practical peri-operative veterinary nursing support for horses.

Students undertaking the DipEVN at Plumpton College will benefit from the fully equipped on-site equine unit and bespoke purpose-built veterinary practice.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our first cohort of Equine Veterinary Nurse students” commented Dr Jenny Watkins, Head of Department for Animal Care and Veterinary Nursing at Plumpton College.

“Our new purpose built equine nursing facilities will allow us to train equine student VNs to the highest standard and our REQVN lecturers will be able to provide first hand industry experience and knowledge.

“We are looking forward to building new relationships with many equine practices in the South East region and beyond. Providing training for equine nurses will benefit practices by promoting the value of employing qualified EQVN staff who will complement their professional team”.

The committee will hear evidence from environmental non-governmental organisations and research institutes. The public can follow the proceedings live on Parliament TV or in person in the Palace of Westminster.
