RCVS president to host Regional Question Times
RCVS' RQTs promote an open dialogue with its members.
Tim Parkin, the newly-elected president of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), is to host two Regional Question Time (RQT) sessions this autumn.
The events will be taking place in Salisbury on Thursday, 4 September 2025 and in London on Wednesday, 15 October 2025.
The RCVS' RQTs invite members to hear about the current and upcoming projects that the College will pursue. In attendance will be members of the RCVS officer team, Council members and other senior staff.
It will also be a chance to have an open dialogue with key officials, with queries invited as part of an informal environment.
Although discussion topics will be audience-led, it is expected that many current important topics will be raised. This could include workforce issues, the Veterinary Surgeons Act, the Practice Standards Scheme (PSS), and the Competition and Markets Authority investigation.
Prof Parkin said: “It’s an exciting time for me as I embark on my presidential year, and I’m truly looking forward to engaging with members of our wonderful professions about the issues that matter most to them.
“As I mentioned previously at Royal College Day, we’re currently facing some significant and ongoing challenges – from the CMA investigation and workforce issues, to the critical need for a new Veterinary Surgeons Act.
“Now more than ever, it's essential that we recognise the need for change and commit to engaging with one another in a clear, compassionate, and respectful way. Please do come and speak with us at either event – meaningful change cannot happen in silos; we must work together to make progress and your input is key.”
The events each begin with supper and drinks at 6.30pm, with the evening programme starting at 7.30pm with an update on RCVS activities. This will be followed by the Q&A session.
The Salisbury RQT will be at Mercure Salisbury White Hotel & Apartments, while the London RQT will be at the members' events space of the new RCVS offices – 1 Hardwick Street, Clerkenwell.
