BVNA announces next Advisory Board Members
Wendy Nevins RVN will become Chair of the BVNA Advisory Board from October 2027.
Wendy Nevins and Lyndsay Hughes join the board.

The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) has named those joining its Advisory Board from October 2026.

The forthcoming members received approval at the recent BVNA Council meeting on Saturday, 11 July 2026.

Among those joining the Advisory Board is Wendy Nevins RVN, who will sit as chair from October. Lyndsay Hughes RVN will also be on the advisory board for a three-year term.

Meanwhile Samantha Morgan RVN will be extending her existing term on the Board.

Jo Oakden, who has served on the Advisory Board for the past three years, completes her term. Before this Ms Oakden worked a five-year term on BVNA Council.

The BVNA Advisory Board seeks to support the BVNA Council and Staff team with governance and strategy. It also participates in the selection of new Council members and officers.

In recent years, it has contributed to BVNA-led member working groups. It has been part of discussions on the reform of the Veterinary Surgeons Act and the Competition and Markets Authority investigation of the small animal sector.

The Board operates independently of the Council, and consists of members from a variety of backgrounds within the veterinary nursing profession.

Sarah Holliday, BVNA president, said: “I am delighted to welcome Wendy Nevins and Lyndsay Hughes onto the BVNA Advisory Board from October, and recognise Samantha Morgan’s dedication to BVNA through the extension of her term. The experience of this inspirational group of veterinary nurses will be pivotal as we continue to progress as an association, strengthening our voice on behalf of our members and the veterinary nursing profession.

“I would also like to provide my recognition and thanks to Jo Oakden for serving as Advisory Board Chair for the past three years, which follows on from a five-year term on BVNA Council. Her time, input and support throughout this period has not only positively impacted BVNA and our members, but also helped to ensure the association is fit for the future.”

Wendy Nevins, incoming Advisory Board chair, added: "I am honoured to have been appointed Chair of the BVNA Advisory Board and grateful for the confidence placed in me by BVNA Council. I look forward to working with the Board to draw on the experience and expertise of its members, support the work of the BVNA and continue championing the veterinary nursing profession."

Milk recalled over presence of veterinary medicines

Graham's Family Dairy has issued a recall for its semi-skimmed milk due to the presence of veterinary medicines in the product.

In a risk statement, the Food Standards Agency said the presence of the medicines, including penicillin, make the milk unsafe to consume and 'may be a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to antibiotics'.

Customers who bought the product are advised to return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.
