RCVS publishes Annual Report for 2025

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) has published its Annual Report and Financial Statements for 2025.
The Annual Report, which will be presented at Royal College Day on 3 July, describes the RCVS’ achievements and projects for the year.
It reflects largely on the College’s progress on goals set out in its 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. The strategy, Stronger together, with animal health and welfare at our heart, focused on how the RCVS could work within and outside the profession to achieve positive outcomes.
In its report, the College has highlighted its work with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) on the reform of the Veterinary Surgeons Act.
Representatives from the College have been working with the BVA, BVNA and other stakeholders on the need and implementation of the reforms. It says this involvement led to the full government consultation into the Veterinary Surgeons Act which took place in January 2026.
The College also notes its work promoting veterinary career paths to school advisors and schoolchildren, which saw it partner with National Careers Week and STEM Learning.
The report reflects on the College’s first International Postgraduate Veterinary Education Symposium. The symposium addressed best practice in postgraduate education, discussing graduate transition into the profession, advanced education CPD, licensure and revalidation.
The College is inviting members to submit any questions they have about the Annual Report 2025, to be answered at the AGM on Friday, 3 July. Questions will be answered at the AGM or followed up in writing after the event.
Lizzie Lockett, RCVS CEO, said: “I am proud of the effort that has gone into tackling the ambitions of our new strategic plan.
“Against a backdrop of the huge amount of work required to support the Competition and Markets Authority’s Investigation into the veterinary sector, the College teams have not only worked hard to meet their routine key performance indicators, but also put a lot of energy into these new developments as well as the delivery of a number of major projects.
“When interacting with overseas regulators and associations, it’s always heartening to see the regard in which the College is held, and our often trailblazing strategic work contributes to that.”
Questions should be emailed to Deborah Rowlanes, RCVS Events Manager, on d.rowlanes@rcvs.org.uk no later than 5pm on Tuesday 30 June 2026.
