RCVS to celebrate collaboration with 2026 Honours and Awards
The RCVS Collaboration Award is available for nomination, including self-nominees.
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons is to promote collaboration with its new Collaboration Award at next year’s RCVS Honours and Awards.
The award forms part of RCVS’ ‘stronger together’ theme, which supports the idea that collaboration will lead to the best outcomes for the veterinary sector.
Nominees will be encouraged to share examples where collaboration between veterinary professionals and those in other fields has benefitted One Health causes. This can mean working with other veterinary professionals in different fields, or even working with other professionals, such as scientists.
Lizzie Lockett, CEO of RCVS, said: “The new Collaboration Award is all about recognising best practice in collaboration – whether that’s bringing together veterinary professionals working in different organisations or disparate fields, or veterinary professionals working with human medics, scientists, lawyers, or law enforcement, to improve the health of people, animals and the environment.
“I am excited to hear more about the collaborative projects that are out there and the impact they are having in society, so if you know or are part of such a project, please do consider a nomination for the Collaboration Award.”
The Collaboration Award joins RCVS’ full list of Honours and Awards, for which the nomination period has officially been launched. The nomination period will close on Wednesday, 7 January.
Awards open for nomination include:
• The Queen’s Medal – recognising a veterinary surgeon with a highly distinguished career including sustained and outstanding achievements throughout
• The Veterinary Nursing Golden Jubilee Award – recognising a veterinary nurse with a sustained and distinguished career. They will have had a leadership role within the profession and have acted as an ambassador for veterinary nurses.
• The RCVS International Award – veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses or lay-people which have made an outstanding contribution on issues in line with the RCVS mission. Open for self-nominations.
• The RCVS Impact Award – veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, or a team led by these professionals, who have made an impact with clinical or research work. This includes practice-based research with ethical approval. Open for self-nominations.
• Honorary Associateship – an award for laypeople who have made a special contribution to the veterinary sphere. This award is only open to those who do not appear on the RCVS Register.
• The RCVS Compassion Award – an award for veterinary surgeons or veterinary nurses who has demonstrated compassion to fellow professionals or pet owners. Open for self-nominations.
• The RCVS Student Community Award – awarded to veterinary surgeon students or veterinary nurse students who has supported fellow students or the wider veterinary school community. Open for self-nominations.
