Vets reappointed to animal health and welfare group
Ifan Lloyd has been reappointed to the Wales Animal Health and Welfare Framework Group.
BVA Welsh regional representative Ifan Lloyd has been reappointed to the Wales Animal Health and Welfare Framework Group.
The Wales Animal Health and Welfare Framework Group was set up in June 2014 to support the development and implementation of the Wales Animal Health and Welfare Framework.
News that Mr. Lloyd was to rejoin the Group was announced by The Welsh Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths.
He will be joined by Joanna Price, head of Bristol University Veterinary School, David Davies, chairman of the Welsh Advisory Board of NFU Mutual Insurance and Moss Jones, director of the Welsh Agricultural Organisation Society.
BVA Welsh Branch president Neil Paton commented: “Ensuring ongoing veterinary input and expertise into the Group’s work was one of the key recommendations we called for in ‘Our manifesto for Wales’, launched in the run up to May’s election, so we are encouraged by the Minister’s reappointments and Ifan’s continuing contributions to the Group.
“It’s imperative that the veterinary profession - as leading animal advocates – are involved in these strategic, national level conversations that facilitate crucial partnership working between government, livestock keepers, other animal owners and industry in order to safeguard animal health and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare.”
After serving two terms, Mr Lloyd will step down as BVA Council’s Welsh Regional Representative. However, he will continue in his role on the Wales Animal Health and Welfare Framework Group.
